In November 2002, UK consumers spent more than £1 billion on e-commerce purchases in a month for the first time. The figure is 95% more than the equivalent spending in the previous November. This compares with a 6% rise in UK retail sales that were not made online. The figures were revealed by Interactive Media in Retail Group. According to Jaap Favier of Forrester Research, “The UK consumer is on his way to becoming the world’s largest spender online”.
