Opera has revealed that the number of downloads for its browser software has increased threefold since Microsoft has included access to their products for people who had previously only had Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Microsoft started doing this on 1 March. This was to comply with a European Commission concerns over whether Microsoft had been abusing its dominant position for bundling Internet Explorer with its Windows operating system. Meanwhile, some rival browser software suppliers are not happy; six of them have complained that the layout of Microsoft’s browser choice screen mean that many people do not realise that there is the option of using those six. In order to see all 12 browsers, the user must scroll to the right.
