Need advice on a compromise agreement?

Are you negotiating with your employer about the terms of your exit from your employer, or have you received a compromise agreement from them? This is a legally binding agreement which will come into effect following the termination of your employment. The agreement will usually provide a compensation payment from your employer and in return you agree not to bring employment related claims against them in the civil court, employment tribunal or otherwise.

If you have been given a compromise agreement, it is a legal requirement that you must have it explained to you by an independent adviser, normally a solicitor, before the agreement becomes binding.

I have extensive experience in advising employees on compromise agreements. Having dealt with hundreds of employers over the past 12 months both in and around Watford, and nationwide, I know exactly what should and should not be in your agreement.

Your employer will normally contribute towards your legal costs and usually this contribution covers your legal bill.

If you have received a compromise agreement from your employer, or it looks likely that you are about to receive one, just drop me a line on 01923 690 034 or Rebecca.Fox@mablaw.co.uk to book an appointment for practical and clear legal advice.

  1. Don’t Be Afraid of Going Legal !

I recently found myself in receipt of the one thing no one looks forward to receiving in the midst of a recession – a compromise agreement.

Once the initial shock had worn off and on the advice of a close friend, I called Matthew, Arnold & Baldwin to make an appointment with Rebecca Fox.

My initial consultation with her was quite emotional for me, as I laid out the facts of my case and the reality of my situation finally dawned on me.

Ms Fox was both professional and patient. At the end of the consultation she provided me with her opinion and advice regarding the way forward.

She explained things in a clear concise manner as opposed to the ‘legal speak’ I was expecting. At the end of our consultation, I left feeling confident that I had chosen the person to act for me and relieved that I had taken the most important step, which was to secure myself excellent legal representation.

During the next few weeks Ms Fox kept me regularly updated with developments in my case. Ultimately she secured me a more than satisfactory settlement and helped me conclude an unpleasant episode in my life on a very positive note.

I would highly recommend Ms Fox to anyone who finds themselves in a similar position. If you are looking for legal representation that is incisive, direct and will work in your best interests then remember, making one phone call could make all the difference !I think this comment should be removed

  2. I recently found myself in a situation involving a compromise agreement at my work. I was in a workplace that I loved and a change of management left me in a position of being ‘unwanted’ and not useful to the new boss. With a number of difficulties and some time off for stress, I was presented with a compromise agreement and advised to contact a lawyer.
Rebecca Fox was great – very down to Earth and genuine. She helped me understand my situation and my options. At no time did she suggest that I take one route or another – she gave me the facts in an easy to understand way and the possible outcomes of the decisions I could make.
In the end, I accepted the agreement and put an end to an awful chapter in my employment history.
I would recommend Rebbeca to anyone going through this situation – she is patient, thorough, professional and succinct.
Thanks to her I taken a reasonable payout and moved on with my life.
Give her a call, or drop her an email – she will get back to you!I think this comment should be removed
