Spamhaus – an anti-spam company – has been ordered by the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois to pay E360 US$27,000 in damages for wrongly putting E360 on a spam blacklist. The original amount had been US$11m, but it was reduced on appeal when E360’s damages claims were more closely examined by the courts. Of interest is the fact that Spamhaus was found liable to pay an unrelated company for causing damage to its business by providing an anti-spam service.
