New guidance on Agency Workers Regulations
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and Adecco Group have published a new guidance on the Agency Workers Regulations 2010, which come into effect on 1 October 2011.
The guidance aims to help organisations that use the services of agency staff to prepare for the introduction of these groundbreaking Regulations, and to understand their legal obligations.
The Regulations will give temporary workers, who are placed by recruitment agencies with hirers, a right to equal treatment (after a qualifying period) – this means that the basic working and employment conditions of temporary workers shall be, for the duration of the assignment at a hirer, comparable to those who had been recruited directly to do the same job.
Matthew Arnold & Baldwin’s employment team have given a number of talks on the impending Regulations, including a CIPD seminar at Middlesex University Business School last night (25 November 2010.) Partner and Head of Employment Michael Delaney will be talking again on this subject at an interactive HR seminar at Deloitte’s office in Milton Keynes on the morning of 10 February 2011. Associate Bob Fahy will also be discussing the Equality Act 2010 at this seminar. Full details of the seminar will be on our website shortly, but, in the meantime, if you would further information, please contact Amy Nicholson at amnicholson@deloitte.co.uk or on 01727 885045, or Hong Cameron at hong.cameron@mablaw.com.
If you have any concerns about how the Regulations will impact on your business, or anything else employment-related, please contact Michael Delaney at michael.delaney@mablaw.com.
