Government consults on changes to UK laws on designs

Following the “Hargreaves Review of Intellectual Property and Growth”, the Government has published a consultation for the improvement of UK design laws to better meet the needs of business. The proposals are aimed at:

-      improving the enforcement regime to avoid disputes;

-      making design right protection clearer and less uncertain;

-      simplifying laws of ownership of, and qualification for, a design right; and

-      making selective international registration of design rights easier.

The consultation closes on 2nd October 2012.
