Commons Health Committee has NICE inquiry

The House of Commons Health Committee has launched an inquiry into the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). The inquiry will examine the way in which NICE is currently conducting itself as well as changes that will take place when it becomes the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence from 1 April 2013. The Committee is looking for written submissions by 29 October on:

  • NICE’s role in evaluating the cost-effectiveness of drugs, including how that will change following the introduction of value-based pricing.
  • The role of NICE guidelines in determining clinical priorities.
  • NICE’s role in public health guidance.
